As Socrates once put it, “I don’t do shit till you whip out a tit, y’all.”

If we’re ever to “fix” our broken education system we have to realize first what the real problem is. It’s never been about cramming, and the repetition of memorization-it was about the learning experience. To better one’s self not because it’s what the test scores say but to make one a better learned and thoughtful human being. Disregard the books, take away the notes and sit with your students and give them something that they’ve been needing-a discussion. Talk to your students, treat us like people and not like cattle and I promise that you’ll have a classroom filled with minds that want to learn.

Continuing this broken system (or making it worse) will only create more of a deficit in terms of learning. When students get treated like pieces on an assembly line people only regurgitate information rather than think.

Also, here’s a picture of Charlie Kelly from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Why? Because this is our future if we continue to educate the wrong way. Pieces get broken, and sadly there is no warranty on human development.
